Sergio Garcia secured a shock point for Europe after Jim Furyk bogeyed the last two holes to hand him the win.

Furyk had been a wild card selection of US captain Davis Love, but was only used twice before Sunday with one win and one defeat alongside Brandt Snedeker, with both matches decided on the 18th.

It went all the way again as there was never more than one hole in it, but the Spaniard led for the only time in the match with a birdie on the second.

However, he bogeyed the third to hand the advantage straight back and another bogey on the eighth saw him go behind.

A birdie on the ninth got the Spaniard back on level terms but a run of birdie-bogey-birdie from Furyk saw the American one up with four to play.

But he then missed from 15ft for par - after taking an eternity to line up the putt - on the 17th to see the match level going up the 18th.

And when another par putt on the last went narrowly wide, Garcia had won the last two holes to claim a vital victory and put Europe 13-12 ahead.
