Darren Fichardt: Tied for the lead heading into the final round in East London
Having moved into a share of the lead, Darren Fichardt insisted he would take some stopping in the final round of the Africa Open in East London.
The 37-year-old posted a third round of 65 to finish a gusty 'moving day' tied at the top of the leaderboard with compatriot Jaco Van Zyl at 15-under-par.
The duo are two clear of their closest challenger, Brazil's Adilson da Silva, and Fichardt insists he will make things as difficult as possible for his co-leader with Van Zyl looking to secure a first-ever European Tour victory.
"I'll play one hole at a time, one shot at a time," Fichardt told the European Tour's website. "I know Jaco is going for his first win, but he's going to have to get through me first."
Of the testing conditions on Saturday, he added: "The wind certainly picked up. It didn't feel like it in the fairways which are in little valleys, but it built up and made a difference."
Van Zyl added a third round of 68 to his earlier efforts of 66 and 67 and acknowledged afterwards he was more than satisfied with his display given the conditions.
"I just wanted to make par and get out of there," he said.
"In the end you take what you can. It would have been nice being 25-under-par, but I'll take 15 and see what tomorrow brings."
