Mikael Lundberg holed a 40 foot curling putt at the first extra hole to beat local hero Bernd Wiesberger in a play-off and win the Lyoness Open.
The Swede, who had shot a closing 65 at Diamond Country Club, looked the big underdog following the pair's tee-shots at the par three 18th - the first play-off hole.
But in possible three-putt territory, Lundberg stunned Wiesberger and the Austrian crowd by holing for a birdie two.
Wiesberger had the chance to respond after firing his tee-shot to 15 feet but the putt stayed right and his hopes of winning his home tournament for the second time in three years were dashed.
At the start of play, it looked as if the title would be contested by the final pair - 2012 winner Wiesberger and defending champion Joost Luiten.
But Lundberg's seven-under 65 saw him surge through the field to post 12-under - a total matched by Wiesberger's three-under 69 but one too good for Luiten, who carded a disappointing final round level par 72.
Lundberg made his move with four birdies in the first five holes and had another such run on the back nine with birdies at 11, 13, 14 and 15 gettting him to 12-under.
Wiesberger matched that with a birdie at 13 and went in front with another at the long 15th. But he bogeyed the second of the back-to-back par fives to drop back into a tie and closed with two pars to take the tournament into a play-off.
Luiten's two-shot overnight lead evaporated by the third hole as he started par-bogey-par and another bogey after finding water at the fifth saw him go to the turn in one-over 37.
The Ryder Cup hopeful birdied 13 to stay in the game but a bogey at 14 dropped him back to 10-under and, despite a birdie at the next, he couldn't catch the leading two.
England's Lee Slattery was a further shot back in fourth after a 66 while Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez (67) tied for fifth with Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti (71) on eight-under.
A surprised Lundberg, who had carded a four-over 76 on Saturday to drop six off the pace, said: "Today just started off really well on the first couple of holes. I made some really nice putts and changed the whole attitude. And then, what can I say, I didn't hit a great shot on the last (first play-off hole) and Bernd hit a fantastic shot but that's golf and I made a fantastic putt.
"Luckily I had almost the same putt on the 72nd hole so I got the line a little bit but to hole that one was just fantastic."
A disappointed Wiesberger said: "I had it in my hands, I threw it away a little bit. I hit five bad shots on the 16th which cost me.
"I hit a better shot in the play-off but he made a great putt. He has not been in the winner's circle for a while, he deserves it. But I lost it a bit. I would have taken getting into a play-off at the beginning of the day, but it's a bit cruel now."
Luiten also felt it was one that got away.
"I didn't play great, didn't get any good breaks and nothing went my way. It was one of those days," Luiten said. "If you are two clear you want to win and finish it off and if you don't do that you're disappointed."
