Highly-rated youngster Matt Fitzpatrick says he is ready for another step into the big time as he prepares for his final tournament as an amateur at the US Open this month.

The 19-year-old, who won the US Amateur title last year, will turn professional after the event at Pinehurst.

"I'll probably play in a league match for my club on Wednesday, and going from that to playing with Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose at the US Open is a little bit different," the Sheffield golfer told Sky Sports News.

"It's not that I enjoy one more than the other, it's just a different atmosphere and a different place to be and I'm excited for the change."

Fitzpatrick's professional debut is set to come at the Irish Open in Cork on June 19.

He has already played at the Masters and the Open, where he won the silver medal after finishing the tournament as its leading amateur player.
