Tiger Woods missed the cut on his comeback from a three-month injury absence at the Quicken Loans National.

Second round leaderboard

(US unless stated)
-6 M Leishman (Aus)
-6 O Goss (Aus)
-6 R Barnes
-6 P Reed
-5 H Swafford
-5 S Appleby (Aus)

Woods had rounds of 74 and 75 to finish on seven-over-par, four too many to make it through to the weekend at Congressional CC in Bethesda, Maryland.

The American, who underwent surgery to repair a pinched nerve in his back in March, started with four pars in the second round before hitting trouble with a double-bogey six at the fifth.

He followed a bogey at the eighth with two straight birdies but his round then unravelled completely with four bogeys in a row from the 11th to 14th.

Woods' next appearance is likely to be at The Open at Hoylake from July 17-20, the venue where he lifted the Claret Jug back in 2006, the most recent of his three victories at the season's third major.

Australian duo Marc Leishman and Oliver Goss are part of a four-way tie for the halfway lead on six-under-par, alongside Americans Ricky Barnes and Patrick Reed.

Both Leishman and Goss signed for five-under 66s on Friday, while Barnes was round in 69 to maintain his place at the top of the leaderboard and Reed birdied three of his last four in a second straight 68.

Freddie Jacobson is the leading European, sitting among the group at four under, while former US Open champion Justin Rose is a stroke further back after a best-of-the-day 65.
