Tiger Wood has confirmed via his website that he will not participate in the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona later this month.

The world number one will return to action at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on February 27.

He will then play in two further tournaments in Florida - the World Golf Championships Cadillac Championship at Doral near Miami, followed by the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando.

The 38-year-old revealed the Honda Classic is a tournament which he holds close to his heart.

"The Honda Classic is close to my home, and I want to support it whenever I can," Woods said. "We have a Learning Center at Murray Middle School in Stuart, Florida, and this event does so much to help the community, including the efforts of the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation."

Woods is the defending champion at for the tournaments at Doral and Bay Hill and said he is looking forward to playing at both tournaments for very different reasons.

"I'm also excited about spending time with Arnold and defending my title at his tournament and the WGC-Cadillac. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've done at Doral," he said.

Woods will remain in Florida for the remainder of the month after his plans to travel to Russia to watch girlfriend Lindsey Vonn at the Winter Olympics were scuppered when injury forced her to withdraw.

"I had planned to take that week off and travel with Lindsey to Sochi, but unfortunately that won't happen," he said. "Instead, I'll stay home and prepare for the Florida tournaments."
