Guan Tianlang: Another fantastic display from the 14-year-old
Chinese teenager Tianlang Guan continues to revel in his American adventure as he made the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The 14-year-old sensation, who became the youngest player in history to play in - and make the cut - at the Masters, returned a composed three-under 69 in his second round at TPC Avondale.
Guan carded five birdies against two bogeys to make the cut on the number at three-under.
He looked to be cruising into the weekend when he rolled in his fourth birdie putt of the round at the fourth - his 13th - before he gave a shot back at the sixth.
But he responded with a birdie at the next and closed with two solid pars while totalling just 25 putts in an excellent day's work which left him in a tie for 57th place, right on the cut mark alongside the likes of Trevor Immelman and Retief Goosen.
"I think I played a very good round today," he said after his round when, at that stage, not knowing his fate. "I made a lot of birdies and got a couple of good up-and-downs, so it was still a pretty good round. I think I made the cut."
"The course was a little better but still wet. Sometimes I got some dirt on the ball. But they moved the tee up on a couple of holes so it was not too bad.
"I am not too surprised with how I played because I came here last year and I have some friends here. I think I did a pretty good job."
