Russell Henley has revealed that victory by fellow University of Georgia graduate Bubba Watson at The Masters in 2012 has given him hope ahead of this year's tournament.

The world no 51, who is making his Augusta debut, won the Sony Open in Hawaii in January with a four-round total of 24-under-par, the second lowest in PGA Tour history.

"Seeing somebody like that, such a natural player, just doing things his way. You know, that's just what's so cool about Bubba."

And the 23-year-old is full of confidence as he looks to become the first Georgia-born Masters champion since Larry Mize in 1987.

He said: "Seeing somebody like that, such a natural player, just doing things his way. You know, that's just what's so cool about Bubba.

"He's such a special player and for him to come and win a tournament like this makes me feel great about where I'm coming from and what I've done so far.

"Yeah, it gives me a lot of confidence and hopefully we can have a few more Georgia players win."

Henley hopes that enjoying the moments early in the week will lead to more focused golf when the tournament starts Thursday.

"I'm trying to soak in being here, soak in the fans, soak in throwing some kids some golf balls or whatever. Hitting balls in front of this many people. Playing golf with guys like Tom Watson. Just the whole excitement of it all.

"I'm just trying to get used to that and just try and get that almost out of the way to where I'm more familiar with it in the next three days so the time Tom starts, I'm not trying to goof off and I'm right there trying to play some golf."
