Ross Fisher: Feels he belongs in the world top 50

Ross Fisher has set his sights on a return to the world's top 50 as he embarks on his first full season on the PGA Tour.

The former Ryder Cup player has slumped to 102nd in the world rankings after reaching a career high of 17th, but he feels he is more suited to playing in the US.

Fisher earned his PGA Tour card when he finished tied for second at the Q-School, although he also plans to play the required number of events to retain his European Tour card.

The Englishman is one of several Europeans to have set up a base at Lake Nona in Florida, and he feels the move across the Atlantic will enhance his chances of breaking back into the world's top 50.

"That's where I feel I belong, and I've been there before," said Fisher, who finished in a share of 56th place at last week's Humana Challenge.

"I got to 17 in the world so I know I can get there. It's just hard work, dedication and a bit of luck along the way. Hopefully this year I will just do what I have been doing all of my career, get out there, play golf and enjoy it.

"I will probably play my minimum number of 15 events over here but it depends how the season goes. Obviously the FedExCup is a big thing over here so if I start well and get myself right up in the rankings I may decide to play more.

"But at the same time, I want to retain my European status and play all my events in Europe as well. It's going to be tough to play both but I'm certainly going to give it a go this year and see how I get on."
