High winds in Hawaii ensured the first round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions was again postponed on Saturday.

Play did get underway on Friday, but was stopped and a clean restart called after torrential rains and strong winds battered the Plantation Course at Kapalua.

It proved a similar story on Saturday, although on this occasion no play at all was possible as officials again opted to abandon due to the adverse conditions.

On three occasions the scheduled start of play was put back by an hour, but shortly afterwards the call was made to cancel with winds gusting up to 40mph and more.

Officials are now hoping to squeeze in 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday with the tournament being reduced to a 54-hole event.
