Ryder relief for Mickelson
Lefty to win record ninth cap for Americans in Michigan

Phil Mickelson clung on to the eighth and last qualifying position on the American Ryder Cup team on Sunday night and will become the side's record cap holder by making his ninth appearance in Chicago next month.
After a closing 74 dropped him out of the top 30 at the USPGA Championship, Mickelson had to wait to see if anybody could overtake him on the points table.
Bo Van Pelt was the last danger with the 37-year-old needing to finish second to ensure himself a Ryder Cup debut. Van Pelt was one shot off that with five holes to play, but then bogeyed the 14th and 15th.
Trio of debutants
Three other players have secured debuts though as newcomers Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner and US Open champion Webb Simpson will definitely be part of the side led out by Davis Love III.
Love will name his four wildcards on September 4 and has plenty of candidates for those slots.
Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan are widely expected to fill three of them, with the likes of Rickie Fowler and Dustin Johnson - who made their debuts at Celtic Manor two years ago - Van Pelt and Brandt Snedeker doing battle for the final place.
