Stephen Ames: On his way to San Francisco
Canadian Stephen Ames and American Joe Durant were among nine players to earn places at next week's US Open in a rain-delayed sectional qualifier in Memphis.
A heavy thunderstorm at Germantown Country Club on Monday had forced the 36-hole qualifier into a second day.
Ames and Durant both posted matching totals of eight-under-par 134 to secure a trip to the Olympic Club at San Francisco, while rookie Tommy Biershenk led the way at nine-under.
Joe Ogilvie, Bill Lunde, Hunter Haas, Roberto Castro, Aaron Watkins and amateur Hunter Hamrick also advanced to the second Major of the year
Castro secured the final spot in a three-way play-off with Kyle Thompson and amateur Bobby Wyatt.
Among those who missed out in a field of 74 were PGA Tour veterans Justin Leonard, David Duval, Jeff Maggert and Lee Janzen, who won the last US Open played at Olympic in 1998.
