American climbs to fifth in world rankings after Sawgrass victory

Matt Kuchar has moved up 11 places to fifth in the world rankings following his two-stroke victory at the Players Championship on Sunday. Kuchar's win at Sawgrass means there are now six Americans in the top 10 and four Europeans. However, Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy keeps hold of top spot despite missing the cut. English duo Luke Donald and Lee Westwood both failed to finish high enough to usurp McIlroy from the summit - they remain second and third respectively. Scot Martin Laird, part of a four-way tie for second at Sawgrass, improves eight spots to 31st.
