Spencer Levin: Leads by three after second round of 63

Spencer Levin grabbed a three-stroke lead at the halfway point of the Waste Management Phoenix Open after another day hindered by darkness.

Levin chipped in from a bunker for an eagle at the 17th hole before parring the last to complete a second round of 63, giving him a healthy head start going into the last two days.

The 27-year old took his score for the tournament to 14-under par, three ahead of Harrsion Frazar and a further three in front of Jon Huh and Webb Simpson.

Frazar was six under for the day when he was forced to abandon his round with three holes to play due to the bad light in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Levin is yet to record a win on the PGA Tour but seemed to be in a relaxed mood heading into the business end of the event.

"Hopefully, I can just keep trying to believe in myself and just keep trying to make my swing, and we'll see what happens," he told the Tour's official website.

"I'm going to give it my best shot. It should be fun. I'm looking forward to it."

Tied

World number six Simpson, who had led after a round, was tied for third on eight under, carding a round of 69 on Friday.

"That was probably the darkest I've ever played. I couldn't really see anything," Simpson said.

Huh's round of 66 also left him on eight under, one ahead of Kyle Stanley, who also shot a 66, while six players were tied for sixth spot.

Elswehere, Phil Mickelson produced a 70 to leave him four under, after a bogey and double bogey on the front nine and four birdies after the turn.

Mickelson said: "The front nine, I don't know what to say. I mean, it was just terrible. I was able to kind of self-correct it a little bit for the back to shoot four under and turn it around.

"It's not what I was hoping for going into the day, but I'm looking forward to playing the weekend and seeing if I can light it up."
