American leaps into top 100 after securing third PGA Tour win

Johnson Wagner has jumped 106 places on the world rankings to 92nd with his victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The American posted his third PGA Tour win at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu thanks to a final round 67. South African Branden Grace has made almost as big a leap by taking the Joburg Open. He climbs from 258th to 164th. The top 10 remain the same although Webb Simpson has swapped places with Adam Scott and moved up to a career-high sixth despite his fairly modest tied 38th place at the Sony. Steve Stricker, who was also tied 38th at Waialae after closing with three straight bogeys, remains the top ranked American at number five. Just two of the world's top five are in action this week. Eighth-ranked Dustin Johnson contests the Humana Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope) in California while world number nine Charl Schwartzel, who missed the cut in the Joburg Open last week, heads the field at the Volvo Golf Champions in his native South Africa.
