Ernie Els has opted to withdraw from next week's Volvo Golf Champions event in his native South Africa in order to spend more time with his family.
The four-time major champion has also pulled out of Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship the following week, meaning he will not now appear on the European Tour until the Qatar Masters which takes place from January 22-25.
"I am really sorry to miss the Volvo Golf Champions and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship but for personal reasons I have decided to remain at home with my family and play my first event once my children return to school," stated the 44-year-old.
"I apologise for the inconvenience and late notice of the decision but wish Volvo and HSBC the best of luck with their tournaments and look forward to playing in South Africa again soon."
Meanwhile, Els has also revealed that he has agreed a multi-year deal with club manufacturer Adams Golf that will see him use a range of the company's products and showcase the brand's logo on his bag and headwear.
"As a player, there are many factors in something as fundamentally important as your equipment. Everything about Adams impresses me," he explained.
"I'm partnered with a company where innovation is at the heart of everything they do, where they're always looking to push the envelope and pursue new ideas that ultimately help players of all skill levels play better."
"Right now we're working hard to finalize the configuration and exact specs of my set, focusing specifically on the Tight Lies fairway metals and XTD irons and hybrids. Really can't wait now to use them in competitive play later this month at the Qatar Masters," he added on his personal website.
