Newly-crowned BMW PGA Championship winner Matteo Manassero has climbed to a career-high 28th in the world rankings.

The 20-year-old Italian, who moved top of the European Tour's Race to Dubai standings as a result of Sunday's impressive triumph, swept 29 places up the table and into the top-30.

On Sunday, he won the second most important title on European soil at the fourth extra-hole where he edged out Simon Khan.

Despite letting slip a two-shot lead during the final round over the West Course, Lee Westwood moves from 12th to 10th in the table after finishing ninth at Wentworth.

Khan, meanwhile, moved more than 200 spots in the right direction from 384 to 147.

American Boo Weekley, the winner of the PGA Tour's Crowne Plaza Invitational event in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday climbed from 111th to 55th.

Tiger Woods still leads the way followed, in order, by Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Brandt Snedeker and Luke Donald.
