Charl Schwartzel: Competing in the Maybank Malaysian Open this week

Charl Schwartzel insists he will head to next month's Masters in relaxed mood as a result of the level of consistency he has found in recent months.

The South African - who won the Green Jacket in sensational style in 2011 after birdying his final four holes - has been in quite scintillating form since the back end of last year and has two wins, two runner-up finishes and a further four top-10s from his last ten outings.

This week Schwartzel has jetted off to Malaysia to contest the Maybank Open and has course form having finished sixth and 11th there over the past two years.

The 28-year-old admits he would love to add the title to his CV but, despite being joint-favourite to win along with Luke Donald, will not be putting any additional pressure on himself in Kuala Lumpur.

"I don't like to put a lot of expectation on myself because it creates a lot of anxiety," stated Schwartzel, who got the opportunity to play alongside the Queen of Malaysia during the pro-am tournament on Wednesday.

Playing well

"I know I'm playing well and if I play the way I have been, then I can compete in any golf tournament.

"There are so many good players out there you're not going to win every week, but if you're there every week you're going to break through more often."

He claimed he would adopt the same mindset for his trip to Augusta National next month, despite the extra pressure the season's first major inevitably brings.

"It's the same thing for the Masters," he continued. "I don't have to prove myself because I've won there. I know if I play the way I can play then I'll definitely be competing. That's the aim."
