Darren Fichardt's eight-under 64 moved him into a four-way tie for the lead after the third round of the Tshwane Open.

Fichardt, fresh from his Africa Open victory two weeks ago, closed with three straight birdies after play resumed following a delay of nearly two hours due to the threat of thunderstorms.

His late surge completed a bogey-free effort and got him to 16-under-par for the tournament, a total later matched by second-round leader Charl Coetzee, their fellow South African Dawie van der Walt and Chile's Mark Tullo.

Coetzee, who was among 53 players who finished their second rounds on Saturday morning, is playing in his fifth event on tour and signed for a 68, but two bogeys on the back nine meant he surrendered the outright lead.

Having turned in 35, he had an eventful final nine holes that included five birdies to go with those two dropped shots.

Tullo has yet to drop a shot all week and carded another five birdies in his third round, including at the last to complete a 67.

Van der Walt is also yet to make a bogey and once again had a strong back nine to keep up with the leaders. Eleven of his 16 birdies have come on the way back to the clubhouse.

Louis de Jager, another South African on a home dominated leaderboard at the Copperleaf Golf and Country Estate in Centurion, is one behind the leading quartet after coming home in 31 for a round of 65.

American Peter Uihlein (68) is alone in sixth place at 14-under-par, while England's David Howell is one shot further back after a 67.
