Joint leader Charl Schwartzel believes his improved putting is making the difference in this week's Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Schwartzel carded an eight-under 64 in round two to share the lead at Leopard Creek with fellow morning starter Gregory Bourdy on 13-under.

The 2011 Masters champion said. "It was a very solid round. Hardly any mistakes, here and there a bad shot but getting away with it but mostly they're all where I'm looking at and I'm just making the right putts at the right time.

"I'm feeling good stood over the putts and that's key when shooting low scores.

"I'm standing a lot stiller and feeling a lot less tension in my hands than before. With less tension you get better rhythm and I'm hitting better putts," said the South African, who won the Thailand Golf Championship last week by a whopping 11 shots.

Schwartzel wasn't too surprised to see that his impressive halfway total had been matched.

"It always seems like there's someone that plays well, as well," he said after Frenchman Bourdy had matched his 36-hole score with a 65.

"It's out there though. If you're playing the par fives well, if you're hitting fairways, you can hit some good shots into these greens, especially in the morning when the ball is stopping.

"If someone gets it going the score is there."
