Second round leader still looking for Open win despite Saturday struggle

Brandt Snedeker believes he can still upset the odds and snatch the Open Championship title at Royal Lytham on Sunday. The overnight leader remained one ahead after four holes of his third round as he completed 40 holes without a single bogey, but he then dropped four shots in a morale-sapping five-hole stretch. The American also bogeyed 11 and 14 before battling back with two birdies in the final three holes to salvage a three-over 73. "It was very frustrating. I played very poorly on about as easy a day as we're going to see it and I'm not happy with it at all," said the 31-year-old, who will begin the final round five behind Adam Scott. "But those two birdies late on salvaged what could have been a horrific round into a pretty awful round so I've still got a chance on Sunday. "I've come from behind before, I can do it again. I realise there's a ton of golf left and I've played a lot of great golf to get to this point. "I know it's not far off. I know it's in there somewhere. As long as I hang in there and keep fighting, you never know what might happen. "Today was one of those things where you've got to find out if you have some guts or don't. I could have packed up and gone home but I didn't."
