The action moves from north-west California to the desert state of Nevada where TPC Summerlin hosts a PGA Tour event for the 22nd time.

Co-designed by Fuzzy Zoeller and Bobby Weed, and opened in November 1991, the Las Vegas course has large greens and plenty of sand.

The tournament used to be played over five rounds until it switched to the more traditional 72 holes in 2004.

Either way, it remains one of the lowest-scoring venues on the calendar, with a tournament average usually below 70.

Conclusion

Nick Watney: Back in form again and great record here

After wins for local residents Kevin Na and Ryan Moore in the last two years, another Nevada man, Nick Watney, can complete the hat-trick.

The American, who lives 30 minutes away in nearby Henderson, has turned a corner in the last couple of months, posting a second (BMW) and a ninth (Barclays) in two of the four FedEx Cup play-off events.

"I'm real excited about the direction I'm going in," he said at the Tour Championship and this looks a great chance for him to put another win on the board.

He's finished 10th, second and sixth here in the last three years and said 12 months ago: "I've played it probably more than the rest of the guys. So I feel like I know my way around. It's always nice to play at home, and definitely a bonus to get to sleep in your own bed."

Go for Watney at 16/1.

Birdies are the order of the day at TPC Summerlin so make sure to get with Brendon de Jonge at 25s.

The Zimbabwean is a birdie machine - no-one bettered his massive tally of 399 last season - and is on a high after being one of the Internationals' best players at the recent Presidents Cup.

Anyone who watched that event came away thinking that de Jonge would win on the PGA Tour very soon after a string of near misses and this must represent a fantastic opportunity.

Last year he finished runner-up and said: "I like the town. I like the vibe. I've always had fun in Vegas, and so far it's translated to the golf course."

He'll like it even more if he can go one better and let's bet that he does.

David Hearn was 12th on the Total Birdies list last year and bagged another 18 in last week's Frys.com Open where he overcame a poor first round (73) to finish tied 21st after closing 68-66-68.

The Canadian's ability to shoot low scores helped him take fifth place here two years ago while he also made the top 30 last year.

In a tournament which has thrown up plenty of first-time winners, he's got decent claims to become the latest.

Best bets

2pts e.w. Nick Watney at 16/1 (1/4 1,2,3,4,5)
2pts e.w. Brendon de Jonge at 25/1 (1/4 1,2,3,4,5)
1pt e.w. David Hearn at 50/1 (1/4 1,2,3,4,5)
