Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina will host this week's Wyndham Championship

The action moves from South to North Carolina for this week's Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club.

Designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1926, the country club underwent a $3m facelift six years ago ahead of its return to the PGA Tour schedule.

The course hosted the Greater Greensboro Open between 1938 and 1976, before staging the current event for the first time in August 2008.

And, once again, the Wyndham Championship is the final qualifying tournament for the FedEx Cup Play-Off Series which begins in New York State later this month.

The top-125 in the FedEx Cup standings - at the end of this week - will qualify for the opening tournament of the four-event play-off series.

Not the longest of courses, Sedgefield underwent more changes this year when it's extremely undulating greens were converted from Bentgrass to Bermuda.

So who's teeing up this Thursday?

Robert Garrigus: Is developing into a solid performer on the PGA Tour. A three-time runner-up during 2012, the 34-year-old American survived the cut last week at Kiawah Island and is now ranked inside the world's top 60.

Bill Haas: Although the 30-year-old from South Carolina prefers the west coast, he will fancy his chances in this week's event which has a slightly below-par field.

Fredrik Jacobsen: Now inside the world's top 50, the Swede has missed just a single cut during the past 12 months. Top-20 finishes in both previous visits to Sedgefield.

John Mallinger: Tied-for-third in this event two years ago, the American finished fourth at the recent Reno-Tahoe Open in Nevada.

Webb Simpson: The defending champion who will be making his Ryder Cup debut in Chicago next month. Born in North Carolina, the 27-year-old still lives in the state.

Brandt Snedeker: The upwardly-mobile 31-year-old from Nashville, Tennessee, is a two-time top-10 performer at Sedgefield.
