Davis made a blazing start with an unlikely eagle at the first setting him on the way to a 64, and Owen fired a confident 65 while Langley stole some of the limelight from Tiger Woods with a flawless eight-under 62.

Langley rolled in four birdies on each nine to earn a one-shot lead over Jonathan Byrd and Danny Lee, who made seven birdies each and also kept bogeys off their cards.

Highlights from day two of the Greenbrier Classic.

Davis is one further adrift after building on his bright start, holing his 146-yard approach to the first hole for a delightful two, and he added birdies at the third and fifth before following a run of 11 straight pars with further birdies at the closing two holes.

Ryo Ishikawa birdied four of his last five holes to join Davis on six under, while Owen managed six birdies and blotted his card just once as he ended the day just three adrift of the leader.

Paul Casey is happy with the way he is playing at the moment and is hoping for bigger and better things to come in the future

Paul Casey, who lost out to Bubba Watson in a play-off at last week's Travelers Championship, continued his good form with a solid four-birdie 66 to join Woods on four under par.

More from Greenbrier Classic 2015

Watson struggled in the wet afternoon conditions, although he did manage to birdie the final two holes to salvage a respectable 67, while his Ryder Cup team-mates Patrick Reed and Keegan Bradley carded erratic 68s on a day when 95 players broke the par of 70.
