Jason Day has pulled out of this week’s Travelers Championship in Connecticut.

The Australian, who was one of four joint-leaders after 54 holes of the US Open, almost had to withdraw from the second major of the year after suffering from a bout of vertigo on day two.

Day, who collapsed to the ground while walking along the steep 18th fairway, managed to complete his second round with many fearing that he may have to exit from the event at Chambers Bay.

However, he teed-up again on Saturday and completed the tournament in level par – five shots behind winner Jordan Spieth.

Jason Day collapsed on his final hole at the US Open after suffering a dizzy spell.

But the 27-year-old from Queensland has now decided not to play at TPC River Highlands this Thursday.

Day’s caddie Colin Swatton explained on Monday – 24 hours following the end of the US Open – that the golfer was suffering from his exploits in Washington state.

He said: “I'm not sure how much of yesterday took it out of him. I really don't. It's in the result. I don't know what to say. I'm obviously disappointed and he was totally exhausted."
