Bubba Watson says he was inspired by 'Drive, Chip and Putt' champion Kelly Xu and is enjoying golf even more after last year's Masters victory.

Defending Masters champion Bubba Watson was among the past green jacket winners to greet youth players at the finals, just as he did last year on his way to a three-stroke victory.

South Africa's Gary Player, Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal and American Mark O'Meara were among the others who watched eight children's age-group champions crowned on the eve of the first official practice for next week's Masters tournament.

The Masters - Drive, Chip & Putt

More than 80,000 youngsters from US and Canadian cities entered and advanced from local, sectional and regional events to become among the 80 who reached Augusta National.

"When you look at these kids and see the excitement on their faces, it's the same excitement I get knowing I'm going to play this course. It's the thrill of a lifetime," Watson said.

"It brings kids the joy I had when I started playing golf. You go back to your childhood and remember what you wanted to play the game. It's fun. It's exciting."
