Danny Willett of England is set to play in the Masters for the first time next year as a result of the year-end rankings working in his favour.

Willett, who won the Nedbank Challenge in South Africa two weeks ago, is ranked at No 51 in the world in this week's ranking.

The Dubai Open on the Asian Tour, which was won by India's Arjun Atwal, ended on Sunday - the final official golf tournament of the year.

Willett did not play in the event, but because points are gradually reduced at differing rates in the world ranking formula, the 27-year-old from Sheffield will move up to No 50 in the final ranking of the year that is published on December 29.

The top 50 at the end of each year earn invitations to the Masters at Augusta National, which starts on April 9.
