Jason Day and Cameron Tringale overcame a slow start to their final round to win the Franklin Templeton Shootout in Florida by a single shot.

Day and Tringale shot a seven-under 65 in the better-ball finale to finish on 32 under at Tiburon Golf Club and pick up a cheque for $385,000 apiece.

The pairing opened with a scintillating 55 on Thursday in the scramble round and shot a 64 on Friday in modified alternate-shot play.

Leading by three shots going into the final round, they had just one birdie in the first eight holes before closing with six in their last nine to put the seal on victory in the 54-hole tournament.

Defending champions Matt Kuchar and Harris English finished second after closing with a 62 - Kuchar just missing an eagle chip on the final hole.

Billy Horschel and Ian Poulter tied with Keegan Bradley and Camilo Villegas for third place, a couple of shots further back.
