South Africa's Lee-Anne Pace fired a three-under-par 68 to join Laura Diaz at the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the Marathon Classic.

Pace, who is seeking her first LPGA title, and Diaz are on 11-under 202 after 54 holes in Ohio, one shot clear of South Korean Ryu So-Yeon and American Jaye Marie Green.

"I like the greens. They are quite receptive to my shots. I'm confident about my iron play. I'm hitting it in there very well. Hitting really good."

Pace, 33, was three shots behind overnight leader Diaz at the start of the day but moved into contention on the front nine with birdies at the third and ninth holes.

She stumbled with bogeys at 11 and 12, but responded with birdies at the13th and 14th and another at the 17th.

American Diaz, 39, who is without an LPGA victory since 2002, had to settle for a 71 which included a double-bogey at the fourth and an eagle at the ninth.

Lowest round

Meanwhile, Green, 20, needed only 25 putts as she charged through the field with a 63, the lowest round of the day.

Pace, an eight-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, hopes a strong showing will help her clinch a place on the US tour.

"I definitely want to be in America. Hopefully this week will help me get here full time," she said.

"I'm very confident. I felt so relaxed today. It came naturally.
