Lizette Salas was celebrating her maiden LPGA Tour title after claiming the Kingsmill Championship by four shots.
Salas carded a closing round 71 to finish on 13-under for the event, with Sarah Jane Smith, Lexi Thompson and Yani Tseng adrift in second.
The 24-year-old Salas said: "I was patient and I was happy today. I felt so ready. There are so many emotions going on right now. I am just trying to breathe.
"Once I got to 17 we had a nice little cushion so I enjoyed that walk up 18.”
Final round leaderboard
(US unless stated)
-13 L Salas
-9 SJ Smith (Aus)
-9 L Thompson
-9 Y Tseng (Tpe)
-8 L Ko (Nzl)
-8 R So-Yeon (Kor)
Salas missed the cut at the North Texas Shootout just two weeks ago, but a change of putter and a new mental approach have been key to her turnaround in fortunes.
"I made a putter switch last week when I was home," she said. "I took a different approach this week of not thinking so much and trying not to be perfect.
"The knees were shaking a little bit but after being in the Solheim Cup I knew how to control my nerves. I knew where to hit it and I just stayed patient."
Smith had made a final-day charge with a five-under 66 to earn a share of second alongside Thompson (69) and former world No 1 Tseng (69).
Ryu So-Yeon and Lydia Ko were tied on eight-under, while Thidapa Suwannapura was a shot further back
