Stanford won five of 10 prior events when leading after 54 holes
American Angela Stanford extended her lead at the top of the Lotte Championship leaderboard to four strokes after a third-round 67 took her to 13 under.
The 36-year-old will go into Sunday's final round with a commanding lead over compatriot Michelle Wie, who shot a 70 on Saturday, and South Korea's Hyo Joo Kim (69), both of whom are nine under.
Another American, Cristie Kerr, is a shot further back after a round of 70, with a trio of players - South Korean duo Inbee Park (72) and So Yeun Ryu (72) and Amy Anderson (68) of America - all on six under.
In windy conditions, Stanford had back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes and added another at the seventh.
Her momentum was halted slightly by a bogey at the ninth but she hit back with birdies on the next three holes.
"I kind of found something and for some reason I have been able to read these greens. It has been fun to watch the ball go in," she said.
"It's hard for everybody. You really have to be patient."
Wie, playing in her home state, made birdies and the third and sixth holes and followed a bogey at the seventh with a birdie at the eighth and another at 11, but missed the chance to seize second for herself with a bogey on her final hole.
"I'm proud of the way I hit the ball," Wie said. "I'm glad I have one more day. I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow. I just have to go out there and make a lot of birdies."
