Catriona Matthew believes a mixture of youth and experience can help Europe end their wait for Solheim Cup success on American soil.

The Europeans have lost all six previous encounters in the States, dating back to their seven-point drubbing in the inaugural match at Orlando, Florida in 1990.

However, the Scot, a veteran of six Solheim Cups, insists the forgiving lay-out of the course, and the memory of the 2011 success in County Meath, gives her side the edge.

"The course set-up will make for a thrilling week," said Matthew, who boasts a 12-7-6 record in the competition.

"I really like the look of it here. It is clearly set up for some birdies so it should be pretty exciting.

"This is my seventh Solheim Cup and it would be very special to win in America this weekend as it's always special to do something you have never done before.

"We have a really good team this year. A nice young team and I think we have a really good chance of victory."

Caroline Masson, one of six rookies on the European team, admits to feeling pre-cup jitters but claims young and old will be similarly affected.

"I think everyone is going to be nervous," she said. "It doesn't matter if it's your first Solheim Cup or your 10th.

"We have a pretty good team, young team, fresh team and the atmosphere is really good. We all get along really well and I'm looking forward to the week."

Sky Bet have marked up the home team at 4/9 hot favourites with Europe 10/3 and the tie 11/1 for the matches which get underway live on Sky Sports at 2pm this Friday.
