US Open champion Justin Rose has withdrawn from this week's AT&T National because of exhaustion following his victory at Merion earlier this month.

The news is another blow to the tournament after Tiger Woods was forced to pull out due to an elbow injury.

A statement issued via tournament organisers by the 2010 winner said: "I'm disappointed to withdraw from the AT&T National, but the last three weeks have been extremely demanding both mentally and physically.

"This tournament has been very good to me - especially in 2010 - and I would play if I felt I could. Tiger and his Foundation run a great tournament, and I wish I could be there."

Rose honoured a commitment to play in the Travelers Championship the week after his first major victory, finishing joint 13th on Sunday.
