In a press conference on Wednesday at the West Course, a visibly shaken and contrite Garcia admitted: "My answer was stupid. I can't say sorry enough to Tiger, the European Tour and my Ryder Cup teammates. "It spoiled what was a great Players Awards Dinner. I will try to talk to Tiger or one of his representatives. I hope to apologise face-to-face and then move on. "My comments certainly weren't meant to be racist. What seemed to be a funny question, I tried to give a funny answer that came out wrong. "I didn't sleep at all last night because I felt sick at what I said - as it was an inappropriate comment. "Felt my pounding heart was going to come out of my body and felt sick all day." And Garcia did not think he would have to explain his words at a disciplinary hearing. He added: "I met with Tim Finchem (commissioner of the PGA Tour) and George O'Grady (chief executive of the European Tour) and they both accepted my apology. "So I don't believe there will be any further problems."
