David Lynn: Will go on holiday next month rather than play in the US Open
David Lynn has revealed he intends to turn down the opportunity to make his US Open debut next month and will instead head off on holiday.
The 39-year-old Englishman has proved one of the revelations of the PGA Tour season thus far having earned the right to take up his card Stateside by finishing as runner-up in last year's USPGA Championship.
Lynn came within a whisker of landing his first PGA Tour title over the weekend as he lost out in a play-off to rookie Derek Ernst at the Quail Hollow Championship on Sunday.
But his runner-up finish was good enough to see him climb back into the world's top 50 and also secured him a spot at the season's second major - the US Open which takes place at Merion Golf Club on June 13-16.
However, without an invitation previously, the Merseysider had already booked himself a holiday following a gruelling schedule which has seen him play 12 events in the past 13 weeks and insists he will be sticking to his original plans.
"This is the problem," Lynn told the Daily Telegraph. "I wasn't in the US Open, so I've made other plans. I've actually booked a holiday and I need a holiday now, to be honest. So I'm going to do that."
"I've enjoyed the experience so far but I can't carry on living like this - out of a suitcase and flying back home to England once in a blue moon."
While enjoying his somewhat unlikely success in America, Lynn revealed that the travelling and nomadic lifestyle he has been living in recent times had started to catch up with him.
While he already looks to have won enough money to secure his card for next season, the Englishman explained that he has not yet finalised his plans for the future.
"I've enjoyed the experience so far but I can't carry on living like this - out of a suitcase and flying back home to England once in a blue moon," he stated.
"I'll have a big decision to make as I would have to get a base over here and, of course, get my missus to come out here as well. There's a lot of factors. I'll have to sit down and think about it."
