Lucas Glover grabbed his share of the headlines as he took a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

With many focused on the exploits of Chinese teenager Tianlang Guan, Glover continued his fine form around Avondale to reach 12-under par and break out of a tie with Boo Weekley at the top of the leaderboard.

Glover, US Open champion in 2009, had an up-and-down round, not carding a par until the sixth, with a bogey at the third surrounded by birdies at the other four holes.

He dropped a couple of shots on the way back to the clubhouse, but a birdie at the 18th capped a second round 67 and a one-stroke advantage over Weekley, with whom he had shared the first round lead.

Weekley started his second round in flying fashion with an eagle two at his first hole - the 10th - and he appeared set to lead on his own with birdies at the 17th, first and second holes.

But bogeys at the sixth and eighth set him back and let Glover in to snatch the lead going into the weekend.

Recent winner DA Points continued his excellent season with a four-under 68 which was bogey-free, and he is one shot further back on 10-under.

But many of the headlines were made by 14-year-old sensation Guan, who carded a superb three-under 69 to make the cut just a fortnight after making it through all four rounds at the Masters.

The Chinese phenomenon was followed by huge crowds around the Louisiana course, no doubt aided by the month he spent in the area putting the seal on his preparations for Augusta.
