A spectator watching Monday's practice at Augusta National required medical attention after being struck on the head by an errant golf ball.

The male spectator fell to the ground with blood pouring from the right side of his head following a mis-hit shot from two-time Masters winner Jose Maria Olazabal.

Olazabal, the last European to wear the Green Jacket in 1999, accidentally struck the fan with his second shot on the par-five eighth hole.

The 46-year-old Spaniard, who captained Europe to Ryder Cup glory in Chicago last year, apologised to the man and handed him a signed glove.
