Justin Rose: Chasing Rory McIlroy to become Europe's No 1 this season
Justin Rose will give his all to try and chase down Rory McIlroy in the battle for the Race to Dubai.
The world No 5 is second in the standings but with more than $7m on offer this week at the BMW Masters in Shanghai, Rose knows a big week could see him catch his Ryder Cup team-mate.
Rose and McIlroy, along with Lee Westwood, will be the final group out when the tournament gets underway early on Thursday morning.
"There are some big events coming up and an exciting finish to the Race to Dubai," Rose said.
"I think Rory is playing more tournaments than me in the lead-up, so I am going to have to play well, absolutely.
"I figure I am going to have win one of these next two weeks to give myself a really good chance in Dubai.
"A lot of times you can get to this point in the season and be really burnt out. But I feel very motivated to play these tournaments coming up. There's still a lot more to achieve so that's the key for me.
"To be No 1 of any tour around the world, especially the European Tour, that's a huge goal an would be a huge honour so it's got my attention obviously the next few weeks."
