Jonas Blixt and Brendon de Jonge share the lead at the halfway stage of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

Swede Blixt recorded a second successive seven-under 64 to move into a tie for the lead on 14-under for the tournament after sinking birdies in three of his last four holes.

The PGA Tour rookie missed two months of the season with a rib injury, and would love to add a win to his previous best result of third at the Byron Nelson Championship.

"This is what we practice for and dream about," he said. "It would be a boost in my career as well.

"I might get into some more tournaments."

While De Jonge followed his opening 62 with a 66 to join Blixt at the top, Ryan Moore added to his course record of 61 in the opening round with a solid 68 to stand third on 13-under.

Moore, a graduate of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, has had three straight top-10 finishes and was third at the Tour Championship a fortnight ago.

Explaining his upturn in form, the 30-year-old said: "I've been happy just because I've been playing Ryan Moore golf. I haven't been trying to do anything too special. I'm not trying to go out and bomb it around the golf course.

"I have a certain way I have to approach this game. I've embraced that over the last month, month and a half. Just going out there and giving myself opportunities. I know if I have enough opportunities throughout a round I'm going to put together a pretty good score.

"I think that's given me some confidence to just go play golf and not try to do anything too special."

Two shots behind Moore lurk Tim Herron, after a 68, and Daniel Summerhays, whose eight-under 63 was matched by John Daly, one of five including Vijay Singh and Nick Watney tied for sixth on 10 under.

Scotland's Russell Knox leads the British challenge on nine under after a 66, with a pair of 68s from Gary Christian putting the Englishman on six under, a shot behind US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III.
