Javier Ballesteros, son of the late Seve Ballesteros, won the Madrid Amateur Open on Sunday. Ballesteros finished six-under par to win by four shots and was quick to dedicate his success to his father who passed away last May. "My father always told me that you have to play with what you've got, and that's what I did," he said. "I thought about him a lot during the 18 holes and I dedicate this victory to him and my mother." The 22-year-old is currently completing his law studies at Madrid's Complutense University and will not make a decision about turning professional until he has finished his degree. Ballesteros played in his first professional event at the Peugeot Alps de Barcelona tournament in April where he finished tied for 12th.
