Tiger Woods could be back as world number one if he takes Open glory at Royal Lytham on Sunday.

Woods, currently ranked fourth, hasn't topped the rankings for 21 months but if he wins his fourth Open Championship - and 15th major - current world number one Luke Donald would have to finish second or third on his own to continue his reign.

It was only last November that Woods was down in 58th place, but after going almost two years without a win anywhere he has since had four victories in the States.

Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood also have a chance to take the top spot back off Donald.

Westwood would have to win with Donald outside the top three, while second place could do it for McIlroy if Donald misses the halfway cut on Friday.
