Rafael Cabrera-Bello: Booked his place in the Accenture Match Play

Sky Bet

Dubai Desert Classic winner Rafael Cabrera-Bello has qualified for next week's Accenture Match Play in Arizona following his big victory on Sunday.

The Spaniard's one-shot triumph over Lee Westwood and Stephen Gallacher vaulted him into the top 64 and that means he'll be flying to the States to contest his first world championship event.

"This was the quality jump I was looking for in my game and it's offered me the opportunity to play with the world's best players," said the 27-year-old, who jumped from 119th to 60th in the rankings after his Dubai win.

Prior to his Dubai victory, Cabrera-Bello had won just once on the European Tour, although that came in memorable style when he carded a stunning final round 60 to win the 2009 Austrian Masters.

Els scrapes in

Ernie Els has scraped into the 64-man field - thanks to Phil Mickelson taking the week off.

Els took last week off and dropped from 62nd to 65th in the rankings, but Mickelson has decided not to play in an event where he has reached the quarter-finals only once in 11 appearances.

It could mean that the former world number one Els takes on current number one and defending champion Luke Donald in the first round on Wednesday week, although the draw is not made until next Monday.

Paul Casey is a doubt for the tournament after dislocating a shoulder snowboarding last month, but does not have to make a decision yet.

Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts has made it into the field after finishing in Dubai while South African George Coetzee, who was joint fifth at the Emirates Club, is first reserve for the Match Play after American Kevin Na's fifth place at Pebble Beach kept him in the top 64.

Mickelson confirmed his decision not to go to Dove Mountain after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am on Sunday night.

"I love the tournament, but all of our kids are out of school that week and it's a perfect time to go on vacation," he said.
