'Big Easy' in need of a rest ahead of the Masters

Ernie Els has pulled out of this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando because of fatigue. The world number three ended a drought of 47 tournaments on the US PGA Tour with victory at the Honda Classic at the start of March. But having missed the cut by one stroke at the PODS Championship since, Els has opted to take a break. He is expected to return for the World Golf Championship at Doral, starting on March 20, as the players build up to the first major of the year. The Masters runs between April seven and 13 with Els yet to win the event he has twice finished as a runner-up in since 2000. The Arnold Palmer Invitational starts on Thursday with Fijian Vijay Singh looking to defend the title he won at the Bay Hill Club last year.
