World No 1 Inbee Park is expecting another fiercely competitive LPGA Tour season, starting at this week’s inaugural Coates Golf Championship.

The South Korean is part of a star-studded line-up in Florida for the season opener, with nine of the world’s top 10 competing for the $1.5m prize money.

Park has been paired with US Women's Open champion Michelle Wie for the opening round on Wednesday and expects the American to cause her problems.

"Michelle played really good last year and obviously Stacy Lewis has been playing steady for the last few years... we've been competing for pretty much everything for the last few years together," Park said.

"If it's like that this year then it will be a really great season, but I think there are a lot of new strong players coming up to play.

"It was a very short off season, but I feel like I did the things that I really needed to get done, worked on the swing, worked on rehab, my body, worked on a few things here and there."

Family ties

Also featuring at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club is Cheyenne Woods, the niece of 14-time major winner Tiger Woods, as she begins her first full season on the LPGA Tour.

The 24-year-old won her opening Ladies European Tour event at last year's Volvic Ladies Masters, with the world No 232 now looking forward to having a permanent place on the tour.

"It feels great to officially finally be a member," she said. "I've had the privilege to play a few LPGA events in the past, but to now be a member feels a little different, so I'm excited for this week and I'm excited to finally tee it up."
