The Paraguayan carded six birdies in a flawless round of 66 at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples and leads Germany's Sandra Gal in the tour's final event of the season.

Granada started with six pars before birdies at the seventh and eighth, but she did most of the damage on the back-nine, picking up further strokes at the 10th, 13th, 14th and 17th.

Gal made a poor start by bogeying the second, but that proved to be the only blemish of her round, with birdies coming at the seventh, ninth and 10th and an eagle at 17 moving her into second.

Lewis leads No 1 race

Much of the focus this week is on the race for the year's leading player, with Stacy Lewis, Lydia Ko and Inbee Park all in contention for the extra $1m pot.

World No 1 Lewis is best-placed of the trio with her eagle at the long 17th enough to see her round in 69, good enough for a tie for third place with Sweden's Caroline Hedwall and Belen Mozo of Spain.

But Ko and Park did little damage to their hopes of taking the prize with opening rounds of 71, just two behind Lewis.

Teenager Ko had three birdies and two bogeys in her round, while Park managed a couple of birdies to go with just one dropped shot.

But it proved a bad day for the only two British players in the select field, with Jodi Ewart-Shadoff firing four bogeys and a double in her two-over par 74 and Catriona Matthew struggling round in 75.
