Highlights from day 3 of the BMW Championship from Cherry Hills, Colorado.

Billy Horschel will take a three-shot lead into the final round of the BMW Championship after a shooting a seven-under 63 at Cherry Hills Country Club on Saturday.

The American carded seven birdies - five on the back nine - in a bogey-free round to take the clubhouse lead after overnight leader Sergio Garcia stuttered on the penultimate day.

Compatriot Ryan Palmer heads into Sunday as Horschel's nearest challenger on 10-under par after a third-round 67, comprising six birdies and three bogeys.

"It's going to be a fun day tomorrow. Obviously having a chance to win a golf tournament on the PGA Tour, especially
during the FedEx Cup playoffs, can go a long way," Horschel said.

"We'll see what happens. If I can just keep doing what I'm doing and maybe I'll be holding a trophy on Sunday."

German US Open winner Martin Kaymer is level with Masters champion Bubba Watson in third on eight under par, both of whom are well poised after rounds of 64 and 66 respectively.

Watson collected four birdies in a clean round, while Kaymer's eight birdies nullified his bogeys at the second and fifth.

Slipping

It was a mixed day for Kaymer's European Ryder Cup team-mates as Spaniard Garcia and Rory McIlroy both slipped down the leaderboard.

Garcia bounced back from successive bogeys at seven and eight with a birdie-four at 11th, only to bogey three holes later en route to a two-over par 72, though, the 34-year-old remains in contention at six-under for the competition.

After claiming victory at The Open and PGA Championship, world No 1 McIlroy will need a stellar final round if he is to clinch another crown after a demoralising Saturday.

The Northern Irishman endured a day to forget on the greens after a four-putt at the par-three 12th left him with a triple-bogey on his way to a two-over par round.

Morgan Hoffmann produced the round of the day with an eight-under par 62 to move level with McIlory in 10th, the 25-year-old's lone blemish coming with a bogey on the par-three sixth.

A steady four-under par sees Rickie Fowler remain in the mix, while American Ryder Cup team-mates Jim Furyk and Jordan Spieth are tied in seventh eight shots shy of leader Horschel.
