Florentyna Parker conjured up a remarkable back nine albatross en route to snatching a one-stroke victory in the 54-hole Ladies Italian Open.

The 25-year-old English professional holed out from 165 yards, with a 6-iron, at the par-five 14th, and which was the crucial blow in her battle to see off compatriot Holly Clyburn.

Parker made pars over the final four holes for a closing four-under 68, while Clyburn’s bogey-five at the 360-yard 17th ended her challenge at Perugia Golf Club.

Clyburn left her tee shot under a bush and, after taking a penalty drop, missed her par putt from six feet and she eventually signed for a 70.

Another English player, Rebecca Hudson, was a further stroke adrift following a 71.

Parker, who needed to get up and down on the 18th to claim her second Ladies European Tour title, said: "It's been too long. My grandpa is Italian so it was actually the perfect week.

"I played quite well from the start. I was one under through nine and bogeyed 10 so I was level after 10 and I said to my mum (and caddie), 'okay, three more birdies'.

"I happened to make a long par putt on 12 and then I holed my six-iron on a par five.

“I pared in, because that was still tricky, on the last hole. I thought it was a good shot and then the up and down was very good."

The victory qualifies Parker for the 2014 Ricoh Women’s British Open at her home club of Royal Birkdale.
