Australian John Senden moved to within three shots of the Masters lead after a composed 68 on Friday.

Senden shot a level par 72 on Thursday and was two over par through four holes of his second round, but six birdies in his next 11 saw him rocket up the leaderboard.

He is currently four under for the tournament, three adrift of leader Bubba Watson.

"I felt good all day, pretty much," Senden told Sky Sports: "I got in a couple of bad spots on the front nine early in the round and managed to make pretty good bogies.

"But then I birdied number five which was an accessible pin and that settled me down and then I made a really good three on seven and just had the rhythm for the rest of the day.

"I was just patient, I was accepting where the ball was going and where I was leaving myself in good spots. Happy to come in under par and 68 was a bonus."

As for his chances of becoming the second successive Australian champion on Sunday, succeeding Adam Scott, Senden added: "I feel good, so it is about getting out there tomorrow. Long way to go, just got to be patient, play my game and see what happens."
