Jack Nicklaus - Magic of the Masters

Sky Bet

On the 50th anniversary of his first Masters win, the great Jack Nicklaus talks to Sky Sports about why Augusta is just such a special place to play.

The Golden Bear first slipped on that famous old Green Jacket back in 1963 - the first of what turned out to be six Masters victories as he amassed a record 18 major championships.

And, for the third year running, Mr Masters himself, Nicklaus, will be joining our Sky Sports team out in Augusta to bring us his unrivalled insight into the event.

All four days of the Masters will be live from Augusta, from April 11-14, and Nicklaus will be part of our team bringing you every bit of the action as it unfolds at that famous old course down Magnolia Drive.

Although Nicklaus now knows Augusta like the back of his hand, he admits he still gets the same goosebumps driving up to the course as he always has done.

"The Masters just grabs the imagination of everybody - I still get the same thrill going there today as I did 50 years ago."

And that passion for the event, combined with his experience which is beyond any other man on the planet, makes his comments more valuable than any other - when Jack talks about the Masters, people listen.

Nicklaus remembers '86

Along with describing the 2013 Masters action, Nicklaus will be reliving his own personal memories, including in one of our special Masters videos where he talks us through his remarkable sixth Augusta when at the ripe old age of 46.

"I read a newspaper article saying I was washed up, 46-year-olds don't win the Masters," said Nicklaus.

"When someone leaves the top of their sport and then makes a comeback, you don't get that very often - it only happens once in a lifetime, fortunately it was 86 for me."
