Big guns looming over Englishman's shoulder in Shanghai

Oliver Wilson holds a one-shot lead as the rain-affected HSBC Champions tournament heads for an exciting conclusion on Monday. The 28-year-old sits alone at the top of the leaderboard on 12-under-par after playing just two holes of his fourth round before bad light halted play. With Friday's action having been completely washed out, Sunday saw the third round completed before the final round briefly got underway. Wilson had managed to fire a score of 69 earlier in the day to move clear of the field and put himself in contention for a maiden title.

Big names

However, the Englishman - a runner-up on no fewer than four occasions in 2008 - has some big names breathing down his neck. Former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy is his closest challenger on 11 under while joint second-round leader Sergio Garcia and defending champion Phil Mickelson are a further shot adrift. Wilson only held on to his narrow advantage when he saved par at the second before darkness descended. The leading trio will all return in the morning with birdie chances at the third hole. "It didn't do any harm playing the few holes, it was nice and steady," said Wilson. "I hit one bad shot at the second which cost me a birdie, but I have a birdie chance at three from 10-12 feet. "I would love to win this, I have felt good all week and even before we teed off I felt like this could be the one and I am in a good position. "I need to keep playing well, just commit to my shots. It is going to be a test tomorrow. My game is in good shape, but I have just to commit to taking my shots on and hole a few putts."
Windy conditions
Ogilvy finds himself in the hunt for the season-opening event in Shanghai after following up his impressive 65 on Saturday with a steady round of 70 in tough, windy conditions. The Australian managed one birdie and one bogey in two holes in the fourth round before play was stopped at the Sheshan International Golf Club. Mickelson is alongside the top two in the final group having managed a second successive 70 earlier on. He needed a late, late 15-foot putt to remain on 10 under having found water at the par-five second. Garcia is on the same score but Henrik Stenson, who shared top spot with the Spaniard overnight, slipped back a shot with a bogey after four-putting the third green. Both had signed for level-par third rounds of 72. American Anthony Kim was disqualified after using a damaged driver that he caught on a sprinkler head while walking down the seventh fairway.
